Graptoveria amethorum in greenhouse and in too much sun and in just the right amount of sun. This variety is easy to re-root from stem cuttings and leaves. Take care not to touch the glochids ("dots" of minute spines that detach readily and can cause irritation to the skin and eyes). Flowering and Fragrance The most common species grown is probably Graptopetalum paraguayense, also called the Ghost Plant or Mother of Pearl plant (referring to its pale colored leaves). Pachyveria 'Glauca', a hybrid of Pachyphytum hookeri or compactum and an Echeveria species, forms tapered cylindrical leaves of dusky powdery blue with reddish tints at the tips and some violet tones. Echeveria ‘Xanthe Rose’ is an Altman Plants original hybrid. Its what? Hummingbirds love the tubular bright orange flowers on tall spikes. About the only one that is common in cultivation is Pachyveria glauca, a hybrid of Pachyphytum compactum and Echeveria craigiana. This incredibly floriferous peanut cactus is a hybrid (Chamaecereus x Lobivia), with both genera now under the Echinopsis umbrella. Temperatures below 20 °F (-6 °C) will kill the plant and temperatures which may go below 45 °F (7 °C) during an extended period should be avoided. I have several and they are orange, yellow, green, blue-green, pale lavender to deep purple-grey, yellowy, pink etc. It grows tall stems that eventually bend to the ground and lose their lower leaves. Protect from frost. It is a ghostly smooth plant that is remarkably durable considering how delicate it looks. It's an amazing plant!
