MCE option on motherboard is in "auto" state; as I understand its functionality it is used by mobo to provide necessary voltage to CPU for boost and when MCE is disabled CPU makes the decision regarding necessary voltage for boost. The Core i7-8700K at 4.9 GHz even throttles due to its package temperature.
