I know Kel-Tec has developed a well-earned reputation for producing problematic firearms. Not only are they small and light recoiling, there are some seriously collectible (and cool!) They have been 100% reliable. In last week’s video, I made some ammo recommendations based on the results from our .22 LR and .22 Magnum tests. Savage 1917 32 ACP pistol, with box This model pistol was manufactured in .32 ACP from 1920 until 1926. The best .32 ACP pistols for pocket carry should enable safe carry with the chamber loaded, and should be capable of immediate firing by stroking the trigger without having to manipulate an external safety. Cheers. Traded it to a friend for my first 03A3. I will get a Stainless Tomcat if I can pounce quick enough when I see them for 350. But, we should all train, regularly with every gun we carry. Despite the introduction of many compact .380 ACP pistols the .32 ACP is still kicking. Please reference our inventory #48601. Once again, I decided to use the 5×5 Drill as a way to measure performance. Mine was a West German police surplus model for less than 2 bills. After running the Guardian and P-32 in a comparative review, which one to pick really comes down to your personal preferences. Nice little pocket gun and shoots well although it can be a bit painful to shoot. The Seecamp LWS is another somewhat older design but it’s slimmer and lighter than the Tomcat. Let us not forget that guns can be fun and recreational. It’s a light recoiling cartridge and when you load it in a steel framed pistol with a single action trigger, it’s incredibly easy to shoot. Beretta 1935 The single event that might be called a malfunction was a stovepiped cartridge case. A related design is the SIG SAUER P230 and P232, which are basically PPK clones though they are slightly larger for better control. It’s just that no other caliber we’ve tested so far has so clearly illustrated the general rule of thumb that more expansion means less penetration. That little tiny thing kicked like a damn Mule! The European import surplus guns are very cheap. This may sound heavy to practice with, but the heavier trigger is intended to act as a safety feature for pocket carry and is not hard to learn to work with. The P-32 sits a little lower in the hand to help manage recoil, while the Guardian sits a little higher in the hand with the extra weight in the frame working to reduce the recoil. (Oh yeah) It’s seven ounces empty and ten ounces fully loaded with eight rounds. Make sure to read up on .32 rim lock before you go in whole hog on this caliber. For just a cop, or just a SWAT Team Only .32 ACP I ever owned was a Beretta Tomcat. Both guns performed consistently with all four loads tested, producing no single group larger than 2.50 inches. Yes, i bought a Cheetah in .32 last winter on Classic, police trade-in, super solid pistol, very reliable, in excellent condition, functions flawlessly. The .32 ACP was once one of the most popular concealed carry and law enforcement rounds sold, though it’s inadequacies have been laid bare in the modern era.. I discussed this back in my other .32 ACP video. It’s got beautiful lines, it might even predates the Sig P230 seires. MSRP starts at $1275. Also, from what I can gather from people who have investigated shootings professionally, it’s actually very rare for a small caliber handgun bullet like a .32 ACP to go all the way through a person’s torso and exit the opposite side. The sights of both pistols are minimal, if not almost decorative. For more information call 252-793-4040. But I’m not going out to start ww3. That’s not really a surprise, though. Technically, it must be noted as a malfunction, but from a practical standpoint, it doesn’t interfere with the normal operation of the Guardian. People talk about lightweight J-frame .38s being difficult to shoot well and not good for beginners, but I don’t think an LCP or a Bodyguard is a whole lot easier to manage. The Fiocchi XTP was a very close second in the Guardian with an average of 1.83 inches and a best group of 1.5 inches. The Beretta Tomcat is essentially a .32 caliber version of the Bobcat 21A. If you can’t afford a collectible original Colt 1903, US Armament Corp. began manufacturing them under license a few years ago, so you can actually buy a new one, though it will cost you. Both of these pistols meet, and exceed, all three requirements. But I do want to cover .32 ACP ammunition because I think it’s an under-appreciated caliber for pocket-sized concealed carry. The P-32 does have a slide lock, which will hold the slide open after the last shot in the magazine is fired. Just from handling one, my biggest gripe with the Seecamp is that it has no sights. Go to skouke, lern to reed. Another model to Czech out (ha!) Rim lock is where the rim of one cartridge in the magazine literally locks into the round below it and causes a failure to feed. That’s deeper than the ideal 12-inch minimum that we’re looking for, but I still think I’d prefer a full metal jacket in this caliber, especially considering the rim lock issue with the hollow points. Costas-1963 [CC0], from Wikimedia Commons. You can pay NAA to cut dovetails into the top of the gun and install real sights, so that’s one benefit of this model. But the cartridge can be chambered in guns that are measurably smaller and lighter than the current run of .380 and 9 mm pocket pistols. Yes, the above comment is really stupid. Like we’ve seen with most cartridges weaker than 9mm, expanding hollow-points usually cause the bullets to under-penetrate. Price wise. It was a very popular carry pistol in the early 20th century in the US and elsewhere, as it found global adoption for civilians, police and military officers. One almost certainly can’t likely survive the worst case scenario but you can up to some point approaching it. Mauser hsc Sure wish Starline would hurry up and offer cases for it. https://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/gun-review-kel-tec-p32-32-acp-semi-automatic-pistol/. The only other load that looked like it might be a good candidate with the shorter barrel was Hornady XTP. Don’t take my word for it, TTAG thinks so too: The ergonomics are just… off somehow. I don’t mean for the actual SD situation, as that is do what it takes to survive.
